- An Introduction to Enjoyable! NYC Biking
Wed, Oct 9, 2013
6:30pm-8:30pm

Hosted by JACK RABBIT SPORTS

ABOUT this event
You don’t have to be a bike messenger or elite athlete to enjoy our bike lanes, bike share, parks, greenways, or even the streets we share with motorists. Learn how to ease into riding the city, how to avoid the most common beginner’s mistakes, and how to peacefully co-exist with everyone else on a busy NYC street.

Bring your questions, concerns and stories to this Workshop-style session. Lance Jacobs, League Certified Instructor and founder of Virtuous Bicycle, will guide the discussion and help you find a safe, stress-free approach to city riding.

(Hint: It’s not about bravery, daring, or a bad-attitude) Beginners and grizzly road-warriors alike will benefit from a fresh look at how each of us can take control of our own safety.

We’ll go over a few basic “how traffic works” principles. We’ll discuss how to take control of your interactions with cars. Virtuous Bicycle’s PREMIERE PERFORMANCE – at JUILLIARD!

SAM_7826

Though they ALL knew how to ride a bike, few of these Juilliard students had transitioned from riding around their hometown neighborhoods to riding the big city. But the growing presence of cycling in NY has not escaped them, and they all sat up as they learned that city cycling can be a safe and enjoyable activity. When these students venture out into their NYC lives, they’ll be equipped with the knowledge they need to become confident and responsible riders.
